Zahra Handworks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that facilitates educational and enrichment opportunities focused on the value and importance of creating with one's hands—especially when made from repurposed and reclaimed materials—and the positive effects this can have on the environment, culture, and family.
Zahra Handworks is dedicated to helping humanity foster a healthy planetary system for all who live here. Since 2013, Zahra Handworks has given away hundreds of crochet hooks and scissors, and has provided instruction how to cut a reclaimed plastic bag into a single strip of plarn (plastic yarn) that can be crocheted or woven into new items. Four looms have been gifted to three traditional Egyptian women in Bahariya, Aswan, and Abydos along with the training needed to be able to use their new tool.
